At the heart of SMSV is the Education Committee, which aims to assist all members in thriving and succeeding academically, both in university and the future workplace. We pride ourselves in conducting a myriad of educational events, including large-scale revision lectures, small-scale tutorial groups, OSCE practices and maintaining a vast library of student-made study resources.
We are the embodiment of SMSV’s strong senior to junior teaching culture. Our committee members volunteer their time and effort every year to prepare a comprehensive series of revision lectures for the year below. Moreover, every SMSV member, committee or not, is given the chance to teach juniors in small tutorial groups that we organise and facilitate. We strive to cultivate an enthusiasm for teaching that our members will take with them into their professional medical careers.
To familiarise ourselves with the healthcare system back home, we are also constantly on the lookout for Singaporean doctors who are willing to teach and might be here in Victoria for working attachments. We have invited many of them to give us lectures on their fields of interest. We have also invited SMSV alumni to give us a variety of academic lectures.
We are also pro-actively seeking out new opportunities for the growth and development of our members, having expanded to social media platforms to increase our academic outreach. To find out more about this initiative, do visit @smsv.education on Instagram.
